Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G 5G SoC Announced With Features Borrowed From Flagship Snapdragon 888

Image
Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G 5G Mobile Platform was announced on Thursday as the the latest addition to its existing 7-series portfolio. The new system-on-chip (SoC) is based on 5nm process technology, which was previously available on the Snapdragon 888. The Snapdragon 780G is also first in the Snapdragon 7-series to come with a triple image signal processor (ISP) that includes support for 4K HDR with computational HDR and HDR10 video capture. Started its journey in 2018 the Snapdragon 7-series SoCs are claimed to be available on over 350 devices till date.

Apple introduces Swift Numerics to support numerical computing in Swift

Image
What is Swift Numerics Swift Numerics is a Swift package containing a set of fine-grained modules. These modules fall broadly under two categories. One, modules that are too specialized to be included into the standard library, but are general enough to be in a single common package. The second category includes those modules that are “under active development toward possible future inclusion in the standard library.” Currently, Swift Numerics has two most-requested modules: Real and Complex. The Real module provides basic math functions proposed in SE-0246. This proposal was accepted but due to some limitations in the compiler, it is not yet possible to add the new functions directly to the standard library. Real provides the basic math functionalities in a separate module so that developers can start using them right away in their projects.

First Computer In the World

ENIAC computing system   Started in 1943, the ENIAC computing system was built by John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert at the Moore School of Electrical Engineering of the University of Pennsylvania. Because of its electronic, as opposed to electromechanical, technology, it is over 1,000 times faster than any previous computer.

Add caption Although not due to arrive until March 2021, Java Development Kit (JDK) 16 is beginning to take shape, starting with enabling C++ 14 language features in JDK C++ source code and a vector API. JDK 16 will be the reference implementation of the version of standard Java set to follow  JDK 15 , which is due on September 15. The six-month release cadence for standard Java would have JDK 16 arriving next March.

5G in US averages 51Mbps while other countries hit hundreds of megabits

Image
Average 5G download speeds in the US are 50.9Mbps, a nice step up from average 4G speeds but far behind several countries where 5G speeds are in the 200Mbps t400Mbps range. These statistics were reported today by OpenSignal, which presented average 5G speeds in 12 countries based on user-initiated speed tests conducted between May 16 and August 14. The US came in last of the 12 countries in 5G speeds, with 10 of the 11 other countries posting 5G speeds that at least doubled those of the US. The US's average 5G speed is 1.8 times higher than the country's average 4G download speed of 28.9Mbps. User tests in neighboring Canada produced a 4G average of 59.4Mbps and a 5G average of 178.1Mbps. Taiwan and Australia both produced 5G averages above 200Mbps, while South Korea and Saudi Arabia produced the highest 5G speeds at 312.7Mbps and 414.2Mbps, respectively.

Artificial intelligence

Image
Artificial intelligence , sometimes called machine intelligence, is intelligence demonstrated by machines, unlike the natural intelligence displayed by humans and animals. Leading AI textbooks define the field as the study of "intelligent agents": any device that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chance of successfully achieving its goals. Colloquially, the term "artificial intelligence" is often used to describe machines (or computers) that mimic "cognitive" functions that humans associate with the human mind, such as "learning" and "problem solving

Binary Code

Image
A binary code represents text, computer processor instructions, or any other data -using a two-symbol system. The two-symbol system used is often "0" and "1" from the binary number system. The binary code assigns a pattern of binary digits, also known as bits, toeach character, instruction, etc. For example, a binary string of eight bits can represent any of 256 possible values and can, therefore, represent a wide variety of different items.              In computing and telecommunications, binary codes are used for various methods of encoding data, such as character strings, into bit strings. Those methods may use fixed-width or variable-width strings. In a fixed-width binary code, each letter, digit, or other character is represented by a bit string of the same length; that bit string, interpreted as a binary number, is usually displayed in code tables in octal, decimal or hexadeci...
